Gratitude Can Be The Secret To Your Happiness

I just read a heart wrenching story about a young girl who at age 14 has developed a form of bone cancer that can be life threatening. Not only that this young girls mother has walked out on the family leaving her and her siblings in the care of her step father. She has been struggling to with her disease and her life. She has not had it easy and when I was reading this story my heart went out to her and the struggles she has been going through at the young age of 14.

Why am I telling all this? Because of the attitude she has about life. You see even though she has been going through allot for a person her age. She said that she really appreciates her life and everything that she has in it. I though wow here is this young girl going through something that I wouldn’t want to see any of my own children go through or I wouldn’t want to go through it myself. But she smiles and keeps moving forward and is happy for the things that she does have.

So many of us focus on what is wrong with our lives instead of what is right about it. Having gratitude and being thankful for the things we have is really the key to happiness. Thinking about having good health or that we were blessed to have children in our lives are all things to be thankful for. This can also help you to have a more positive outlook on life.

I know myself that I make it a point to enjoy and recognize the blessings that I do have in my life each and everyday. Which  makes my life a joy to live. Having gratitude for the little things in your life I believe will let you live a better quality of life no matter what your circumstances may be.

To practice having gratitude is easy to do. You can make a list of things that you can be grateful for when you get up in the morning. You could read that list out loud or to yourself it is just important to have things on there that you appreciate in your life right now. You can also do the same thing before you go to bed. The thing is to make a list and use it each and everyday and I’m sure you will see a difference in your outlook on life.
